Carrie Hudson

The person behind the course

Hi, I'm Carrie Hudson, a speech pathologist with approximately 20 years of clinical experience.

Throughout my career, I've worked with adults experiencing swallowing difficulties and the support workers, carers and families involved in their everyday care.

I've seen how confusing dysphagia terminology and mealtime recommendations can feel, particularly when you're expected to put them into practice without fully understanding the reasons behind them.

That's why I created Dysphagia 101: to make essential information about swallowing difficulties more accessible, practical and easier to understand.

My goal is to help you understand the 'why' behind mealtime recommendations, recognise potential concerns and feel more informed when supporting someone at mealtimes.
